Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Mixed Ages
The seasons are changing, the water levels are dropping - what will be revealed? Join this guided walk with staff member Michele Van Hare to experience what late season walks present for viewing when the leaves drop, Boedecker recedes, and animals begin winter movement. Participants will gain some history, visit the "beach" for hunting tracks and fossils, and identify some of your favorite native plants in their dormant state, waiting for you to visit again in spring. Dress for the weather - layers recommended. Parking - please see attached map - if it doesn't pop up: from west 1st St and Rossum, come north on Rossum, turn right on Scenic there is some parking there, and more if you turn around and park on the west bound part of Scenic, more on side streets in the neighborhood. Do not block any driveways! I will meet people at the corner of Rossum and Scenic, will go down to west 1st by 10AM, and if you are running late we will turn west on the Boedecker Trail to start, then loop to the lake shore, finishing east of the bridge and kiosk where the shale is good for fossils.
