Mountain Springtime - A Sunset Guided Walk
06/23/2023
| 07:00 PM - 08:30 PM
Round Mountain Trail (1300 W US 34)
Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Mixed Ages
The Round Mountain Nature Trail gives us access to a conifer forest environment that is unique in Loveland Open Lands and Trails. The trail was the service road for the pipeline that fed water to the electric power plant that once was at Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park. It also leads to a stone overlook shelter built by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) workers in the 1930’s. The trail will lead us past a variety of plants that are harder to find elsewhere in the Loveland Trails system. It is home to a variety of wildlife, some of which we will hope to see in person or through their tracks or other signs. We will also look at the geologic features of this area.

Eldon G - Guest Speaker
I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit
