Community Events - Adult Programs

Are you looking for more ways to spend time in nature this year? Join us and learn about volunteering with Open Lands & Trails at our annual Volunteer Open House. Drop in to learn about the three "tracks" of volunteering with us: Environmental Education: Assisting with nature-based field trips for grades K-5, preschool environmental education programs (PEEPs), "clue table" staffers for Critter Scene Investigations, and other requested programs for local youth. Stewardship: Raptor monitoring, habitat restoration (native planting projects, weed removal, seed collection, clean-ups), trail maintenance, pollinator garden care, and citizen science projects. Public Outreach: Nature cabin docent team, trail host program, event booth staffing, "natural areas after dark" program support (astronomy, fireflies), presenting public programs, and leading guided walks on nature-related topics. We have an awesome team of volunteers and newcomers are always needed to meet demand and use of our natural area sites and trails. If you'd like to spend more time outdoors, share your love of nature with others, or get your hands dirty helping with habitat restoration, attend this no-obligation session to learn more. Open Lands & Trails staff and current volunteers will be available to provide information and answer your questions. Training starts soon for many positions and all volunteer training and materials are provided free. See the Offero calendar for training dates and topics (and more to be added soon). Get a jump on the season by applying to be a volunteer online: https://offero.cityofloveland.org/d/OL/App/General Sign-up appreciated but not required for Open House attendees. Registration will provide you with an automated reminder and our monthly email news/calendar of opportunities.
