Program Practices Training for CoNPS + Invited Volunteers

Training Opportunity - Adult Programs

Volunteers giving programs on behalf of Open Lands & Trails as independent presenters generally need to have some form of training and certification. For years, we've offered Certified Interpretive Guide courses free of charge to active volunteers. These courses are designed for those with a wide range of experience, from active guides to new volunteers who have a passion to share. This specific 2-hour offering is for those who may have CIG certification or certification/training from another agency; for example: CIG or Volunteer Naturalist from Fort Collins, Native Plant Master with CoNPS, and other training or certifications from CSU or Larimer County. This session will provide you with an outline for setting up a program, guided walk, or other educational session for members of the public, while also fulfilling the expectations that Loveland has for volunteers giving programs under the umbrella of Open Lands & Trails. Without this session (and if you are new to your subject material), any program, guided walk, etc. you design and offer will also be attended by a OL&T staff person. This 2-hour session is planned to be offered quarterly: January, April, July and October. There will be 90 minutes of instruction with Q&A and then 30 minutes of program outline brainstorming. All participants must be registered as volunteers within Offero (submit volunteer application online); all active presenters will have a background check (required).
