Early Fall at River's Edge - Sunset Guided Walk

  River's Edge Natural Area (960 W 1st St)

Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Adult Programs

Join Certified Interpretive Guide Eldon Grim for a Sunset Guided Walk at River’s Edge Natural Area. We will meet at the kiosk at the East end of the main Parking lot at 960 W 1st Street. On our walk, of just over 1 mile, we will see what late summer and early fall look like in riparian, riverbank and lakeside habitats, as well as a recovering grassland ecosystem. We will find a wide variety of native and a few nonnative plants. We will try to imagine how deep the water was here during the 2013 flood and its effect on the pond and its surroundings. We will also try to imagine what this area looked like when it was all grassland with a wild river flowing through it. This is a loop, mostly soft surfaced trail. We will occasionally venture off trail, so please wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Mosquito season should be about over, but repellent and sunscreen are still a good idea.

Eldon G - Guest Speaker

I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit
