This Open House - a drop in style event, will provide opportunities for learning about the three "tracks" of volunteering for Open Lands and Trails: Stewardship: wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration (native plantings, weed removal, clean-ups), trail maintenance, pollinator garden care, and citizen science projects. Public Outreach: nature cabin docent team, trail host program, event booth staffing, "natural areas after dark" programs support, presenting public programs, leading guided walks (wildflowers, birds, geology, other topics you might suggest), plus training options offered for these opportunities. Education: field trip programs for grades K-5 (spring and fall sessions), monthly preschool environmental education programs (PEEPs), "clue table" staffers for Critter Scene Investigations, history tours, and other programs. Initial training sessions for Spring 2024 school field trips are available for signup on the March Offero calendar. We have an awesome team of volunteers, and still need a few more to meet demand and use of our natural area sites and trails. Please consider attending this no obligation informative session. Several current volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about how they contribute to these Open Lands and Trails programs.
Minimum Participants: 2Registration is requested for this event. By clicking "sign up" you will receive a reminder and updates about this program.
Programs often have wait lists, so if your plans change and you cannot attend, please click the "Remove" button to cancel your registration so others may attend. Thank you.

CancelI am originally from Virginia and have lived in Colorado for about 36 years. Prior, I lived in North Carolina and California where I was a forest firefighter with California Department of Forestry (CAL FIRE). Once in Colorado, I became employed as a Park Ranger with Larimer County Parks Department. I have always loved the outdoors and spent my younger years backcountry backpacking, canoeing and mountain climbing. I am now retired spend time taking our dog who is a Therapy Dog, on visits.
I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit
Enjoy learning about local trails, plants, birds, wildlife, and history of the areas. Helping others to appreciate our great outdoors and all that it offers is a joy for me.
My wife and I recently moved to Colorado (from Pennsylvania) and have enjoyed working with local Community groups. In addition to Open Land and Trails have the pleasure of working with passionate folks at the Larimere County Food Bank, Loveland Habitat, Rialto Theater, Gardens on Spring Creek and the Lincoln Center. Enjoy biking, hiking, pickle ball and reading in my spare time.
