Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Mixed Ages
Join the fifth annual #OptOutside Mariana Butte Hill Climb on Black Friday. Open Lands & Trails staff and volunteers will lead a guided hike along the trails at Mariana Butte with option to summit the Butte. Groups of 8-10 will take off and start as they arrive - Summit area is small so we will try to space out small groups each with a naturalist leader. Please arrive no later than 9:45 AM. The event ends at 11 AM but feel free to come and hike the trail, it is open 7 days a week, daylight hours, sunrise to sunset. Park in the lower lot of Mariana Butte Golf Course Clubhouse. Check in at the Open Lands & Trails table, which will also have information about other natural areas and Loveland trails. Bring water, wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes, and dress for the weather in layers. Binoculars and cameras welcome. Note: last part of summit climb is steep and has rocky terrain - think of it as two flights of stairs with rocks. The very top is small - there may be a wait to summit depending on the number of people we entice into the outdoors on Black Friday. Let's opt for outside! Must pre-register. Free and open to all ages.

Eldon G - ALL Volunteers
I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit

Since my birth long ago in 1950, I have had an immense interest in the natural world. It has been my good fortune to have gone on many hikes, rafting and canoe trips, and field trips (both in the US and internationally) with study of geology, botany, zoology, and ecology. My undergraduate training was in biology. My life has included living overseas (Turkey and the UK) for 6 years. Also I am a medical doctor. The outside world had been a immense source of wonder to me.
