Join us for a surprise birthday party for Smokey Bear. It's his 75th birthday and we want to tell his story and celebrate 75 years of wildfire prevention! We will have a couple stories from our newest storytellers followed by a presentation about the 1944 campaign with Smokey and the story of the live bear that came to be known as Smokey at the National Zoo. We'll finish with a party, cake, and special guest appearance! So come hear stories in the oral tradition, appropriate for all ages, children, grandparents and everyone in between. Storytellers will use a microphone so all can hear. All you need to bring is your imagination and something cushy to sit on - the rocks do get a bit hard. At the outdoor amphitheater at River's Edge, blankets and seat cushions welcome for stone seating areas. Chair space on the upper level limited. FREE! All ages welcome. Registration appreciated (email is used to get the word out in case of weather cancellations)
