Trail Host Training for Volunteers: Part 1 – “Classroom Training” at River's Edge north picnic shelter Part 2 – “Field Training” on trails throughout River’s Edge Volunteer Trail Hosts are trained on natural area sites and regulations, and how to make public contacts, assist visitors, and answer questions about local ecology and stewardship. After completing classroom and field training, volunteers are certified to sign up as Trail Hosts and represent Loveland Open Lands at various natural area sites throughout the community. Volunteer Trail Hosts: • Engage in positive interactions with the general public • Answer visitors’ questions and provide general information about each Natural Area • Use Authority of the Resource Technique (ART) to encourage compliance with regulations • Practice & teach Front Country Leave No Trace • Collect & report information utilizing contact sheets or online computer entries Time Commitment: • On-site and classroom training – 4 hours + option for training with experienced volunteer • Trail Hosting – 4 hours per month preferred, self-scheduled site visits, year-round opportunities Join our team!
