Let's Go Play Outdoors! Join the Open Lands &Trails team for some simple orienteering compass work and watch the full moon rise over River's Edge Natural Area. Participants will be loaned a compass and given basic instruction on how to find and follow a heading. Once they have successfully navigated the beginner course, trekkers will be given their first heading and clue for the first station. At each of 4 stations, participants will receive a stamp/hole punch indicating their success and then be sent on a new heading. If you complete the course successfully, you should find: the stone circle, the skull place, an activity station, and your way home! (back to where you started). Come have some fun, enjoy the cooler evening and the falling darkness. See the Buck Moon rise (the Full Moon for the month of July is called Buck Moon to signify the new antlers that emerge on deer buck's foreheads around this time). No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Register to receive notice of changes in programming or weather updates.
