Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Mixed Ages

#OptOutside this Black Friday for a guided walk and hike along the Hidden Hogback Trail and up Mariana Butte. Loveland Open Lands & Trails is joining the #OptOutside movement started by REI in 2016. Irene Fortune of Foothills Audubon Club will help identify birds. Michele Van Hare of Loveland Open Lands & Trails will share local history and other naturalist notes. Join in the walk, the climb, or both. Hidden Hogback trail (0.5 mi) is a moderate hike including some stone steps. Mariana Butte loop trail (0.7 mi) is good for all skill levels, with the summit trail (0.1 mi) being moderately steep with some stone steps and beautiful 360-degree views at the top. Something for everyone! Meet at Mariana Butte Golf Course, 701 Clubhouse Dr. Loveland, CO 80537. Park in the Golf Course parking lot and check in at the Open Lands booth. Those who would like a longer hike can ride the short shuttle to the Hidden Hogback trailhead near Oxbow Natural Area (where parking is VERY limited) and join the guided hike along the river and back up to the Butte. Those wanting a nearly level walk can begin at the Mariana Butte trailhead and join the guided walk with Open Lands volunteers around the Mariana Butte loop - 0.7 mile for all ages and skill levels.
