Natural Areas After Dark - Mixed Ages
Enjoy a night of sky gazing with this casual event exploring the science of astronomy! Members of the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society (NCAS) will have telescopes available to view stars, galaxies, planets, and more. Come see what an up-close view of the night sky over the Rockies will reveal this month! This event will be held at Sylvan Dale Ranch, which is between mile markers 84 and 83 on West US 34, just before the Big Thompson Canyon. As you near the ranch from the east (Loveland), watch for the covered wagons on the right (north) side of the road. The wagons will signal that you are approaching the ranch entrance. Turn right (north) through the entryway, drive down the hill past the Sylvan Dale horse barn on your right, and continue across the Big Thompson River bridge, then straight, past the old silo, to the large parking area on your right. Look for event signs along the way. If you miss the first entrance, not to worry, just turn right before the Dam Store, onto County Road 22H, then follow signs to turn left (north) onto County Road 31D, past the Sylvan Dale horse barn and across the Big Thompson River, and at the old silo continue straight to the large parking area on your right. Dress warmly for cooling evening temperatures and bring binoculars if you have them. Weather dependent. Registered participants will be notified if the program is canceled, so please pre-register, and if the weather is questionable, check your email before leaving home. I am retired from Occupational therapy. I have worked in this field for 24 years. I was a preschool teacher for 10 years before going to school for OT. I have lived in Colorado for 66 years I love the out doors, the mountains and praires, I enjoy, hiking, biking, camping, skiing, bird watching, dog training, fishing, swimming and volunteering. I currently am a trail host, helping with PEEPS, and Docent at Viestenz-Smith Mountain park.
