Join us at Fairgrounds Park for this FREE event for dogs and their people, with opportunities to discover, explore and try out new ways to recreate with and support our furry friends. Bring your well-behaved leashed dog to learn where and how to enjoy the outdoors, talk with a trainer or nutrition expert, and connect with other providers of canine comforts: local groomers, food and treat suppliers, and pet sitters/kennels. Drop-in event, but registration is needed for special Open Lands & Trails doggy swag. Participating 2024 booths include: Dog Baths & Beyond, Hank's Pet Food Market, KK9 Dog Training-Family Dog Mediation, Doggie Dips & Chips, NOCO Humane, Loveland Police K9 Units, Dog's Own Grooming, Loveland Public Works, Poudre Pet & Feed Supply, Green Acres Boarding B&B, and others! Food trucks will offer tasty treats for you AND your furry friends!. Activities to try will include agility obstacles, a rally course, and canine parkour. Most popular is our "Where to Hike with Your Dog" guidebook. If you can carpool, please do - over 300 people and their pets attended last year's Dog Day event. Thank you to all those dog owners who use our natural areas respectfully, thank you for using leashes, picking up poop, and for your support. Help us spread the word - invite some friends to join you at our Dog Day of Summer!

CancelI think of spending time outdoors, preferably hiking, as "nature therapy." Have been an avid hiker since decades ago in the Adirondacks, was lucky enough to find employment in Alaska and Wyoming that enabled me to hike and explore when not working. And when I first moved to Colorado years ago, temporarily, I joined the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers although, for personal reasons, am no longer active there. But I wish to resume trail hosting on a local level.
Enjoy learning about local trails, plants, birds, wildlife, and history of the areas. Helping others to appreciate our great outdoors and all that it offers is a joy for me.
This is my 10th year volunteering with open lands and trails with Michele.
Since my birth long ago in 1950, I have had an immense interest in the natural world. It has been my good fortune to have gone on many hikes, rafting and canoe trips, and field trips (both in the US and internationally) with study of geology, botany, zoology, and ecology. My undergraduate training was in biology. My life has included living overseas (Turkey and the UK) for 6 years. Also I am a medical doctor. The outside world had been a immense source of wonder to me.
