Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Adult Programs

Join Certified Interpretive Guide Eldon G. for a guided walk at Sunset Vista Natural Area. The location of this natural area was an active farm dating back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Many crops, including sugar beets and wheat, were grown here, which was also home to a variety of farm animals, including dairy cattle. As we walk the soft-surface Nature Trail, we will see evidence of the transition from abandoned farm fields to a restored natural environment. Eldon will help participants identify native plant species brought back to the site, along with some non-natives you may want to be aware of. The trail passes through a variety of habitats, including wetlands where the plants tend to encroach on the trail, so long pants, close-toed shoes, and insect repellent are recommended. Meet at the main parking lot at Sunset Vista Natural Area.

Eldon G - Guest Speaker

I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit
