Guided Walk: Nature, Birding, History - Adult Programs

At Boise Bend Natural Area, we have the rare privilege of viewing a heronry, without being too close to disturb the nesting birds. Sometimes as many as 50 adult herons are visible on and flying around the heronry at one time. In addition to these nesting areas, Boise Bend contains open meadows, wooded areas, and riparian (river)/wetland environments to explore. Spring brings the return of migratory birds of many kinds, emerging plant life and more. Enjoy a presentation and leisurely walk along a very gentle 0.25-mile trail as we "see what we can see." Boise Bend is across the street from the first cultivated wheat field in Larimer County and near the site of St. Louis, Colorado, a precursor of Loveland. We will briefly share some of the tales of this history. Wear comfortable walking shoes for the natural-surface trail, dress in layers for the weather, and bring binoculars if you have them.

Eldon Profile Photo

Eldon G - Guest Speaker

I have spent most of my life in Colorado. I have a lifelong interest in nature as a photographer, an avid reader, a hiker (really an ambler), a student, and a teacher. I enjoy sharing nature with others and have been told that I make it easy and fun for my audiences. I have volunteered with the Open Lands and Trials Division since March 2018. I have volunteered as an instructor, trail host and guided walk leader. I am a Certified Interpretive Guide. I look forward to sharing time in Nature wit
