Training Opportunity  -  Adult Programs

This training is for our 4th grade History Program hosted at Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park. Training will be held on site unless weather dictates otherwise. Training will cover the local historical events that anchor student learning about territorial, state, and national history as it relates to Colorado’s development. Program Title: Colorado History - It Happened Here! Stations (4): 1) Louis Papa’s Cabin & Homestead, 2) US 34 /Game Trail to National Highway, 3) Civilian Conservation Corps & Shelters, and 4) Geological History This program is promoted as a good fit for Wednesdays, as it is 3 to 3.5 hours long, suitable for the school district's late start schedule. Colorado History - It Happened Here! Stations: Louis Papa’s Cabin / Homestead | 30 min The Homestead Act of 1862, who could homestead, Louis Papa, and a planning for homesteading activity (@ Louis’ cabin site) US 34 /Game Trail to National Highway | 30 min A discussion around gaining access to game and fish, fur, gold, water, land, grazing territory, hydro-electric power and the tourism business. (@ ADA fishing access) Includes a "dress up" activity Civilian Conservation Corps / Shelters | 30 min The Great Depression, young men planted trees, fought forest fires and built Loveland Mountain Park (@ large picnic shelter) Geological History | 30 min Fun facts and the geological origins of the canyon and immediate area. Includes rock types, fossils and where's the gold? (@ amphitheater) This program is promoted as a good fit for Wednesdays, it is 3.5 hours long, suitable for the school district's late start schedule.
