Trailside Table Training - Great-horned Owls & Fishing  - River's Edge Natural Area (960 W 1st St)

Training Opportunity  -  Adult Programs

This is a "program" model that has been working for Larimer County Open Space and I would like to try it with our volunteers. You may have seen something like this at a national park or the zoo. There were rangers doing this type of interpretation at the Alpine Visitor's Center up Trail Ridge Road this summer. A solo person or a team of two set up a table with items to bring people close for a short, almost "elevator talk", mini informational conversation. On the table would also be general information about Loveland Open Lands and Trails. Volunteers would also encourage registering with Offero so visitors would be updated on our program and volunteer opportunities. Small calendar listings of upcoming opportunities will be handed out. This training will also be helpful to volunteers interested in giving time as summer Environmental Education Cabin docents in the mountain park. "Training" will be "on the job", as we set up a table and present a topic or two. I'm hoping the 8 slots fill and at least 2 people will want to present "Great-horned Owls" or "Fishing" on future dates. Both of these topics can be done by a single person, and having a friend to talk to might be even better. Hosts will have masks, the tables will be set up to passively keep people at a 6' distance, "mask-up" signs will be posted on the table approaches, and this will be done outside for 1 hour or more depending on the volunteer and how the day is going. Volunteers can research more information on their own or just use the materials provided in the subject kits. Volunteers will keep a visitor count and report. Hopefully this will get people "seeing" us again! WEATHER DATE: Wednesday, March 23rd same time
